These brochures promote interest in and educate the public about the state's coastal area program. They include a physical description and history of the area, a discussion of shoreline ownership and issues and problems in management, the legislative background, and a definition of coastal zone management, with goals and objectives. A federal Office of Coastal Zone Management publication also explains the situation of coasts of the U.S. and the federal government's role in helping states develop management programs. The series contains maps and color as well as black and white photographs. The Ala. Development Office provided staff and accepted funds for the Board. The series documents the Board's encouragement of public participation and comment in the development of the program.
